Substitute Teaching Pre-Hire / Re-Certification

Pre-Hire

This course/test is for those who do not currently hold certification as a Substitute Teacher.  It is called "Pre-Hire 30 hour course" because taking and passing this course in not a guarantee of employment. 

Candidates for substitute teaching will still need to go through the DOE personnel hiring process. 

Substitute teacher certifications are valid for five years.

Re-Certification 

Prerequisites: Open to current substitute teachers who have completed a substitute teacher course (30 hour substitute teacher or 4 hour recertification) and the certification has/will be expiring.

Please check your Form 5 for expiration date.

All substitute teacher recertifications are valid for five years.
